For beginners, link exchange campaigns can be a minefield of problems. For example, here is a question I was asked:
“Hi Andy,
I have noticed that a lot of sites that request a link exchange from me may have a PR 5 or 6 on their home page and when I click through to the links page there is a PR 0. This is very disappointing and I don’t exchange with them. Should I reconsider this practice or am I right in thinking they are doing something to prevent PR from passing to their links pages?
Best Regards,
Troy”
There are many things to consider when exchanging links.
The above question asks whether you should consider linking to a PR 5 site when the links page is a PR 0.
What are your thoughts on that?
The question you should ask yourself is “Why does the homepage have a PR5 and the links page a PR0?”.
There can be a few different reasons for this.
Reason #1 - the links page is new and has not had a PR assigned to it in the Google toolbar (that does not mean it has no PR, just that the toolbar has not been updated to reflect its PR).
This case is easy to spot. Look at the URL of the links page. Then go to the homepage and View the source of the homepage in a text editor (from the View Menu in Explorer, select Source).
Do a search of the source for the links page filename. e.g. if the links page is called links.html, search the source code for links.html.
If you find a link on the homepage to the links page, chances are the links page is new and has not had time to be assigned a PR in the toolbar yet. In this case, I would consider the link to this site.
You could also go to the Way Back Machine: http://www.archive.org/
..and type in the links page URL. If the Way Back Machine has no record of it, it may be new (though it is possible to prevent the WBM from caching your site).
Now, before we move on, check that link to the links page in the source again. Make sure that there is no dynamic linking going on. While it is not always easy to spot, the introduction of the “nofollow” tag in recent months, has meant that many non-techie webmasters have been able to create dynamic links, quickly, easily, and without much technical knowledge. If you see the word “nofollow” in the link HTML pointing to the links page, then this webmaster is not passing PR to the links page. In fact, worse than that is the fact that the search engines wont even find and index the links page.
This is a case of one webmaster trying to cheat you out of PR. Don’t link to them.
Reason #2 - Links page is not being linked to, or is linked to using a dynamic link.
If you do not find a link to the links page on the homepage of the site, or the link uses one of the forms of dynamic linking, then I would not recommend you link to that site. The links page will get no PR, and wont even be found by the search engines, so you get no benefit. It is possible the links page does have a link pointing to it from another page, but let’s look at that as a separate issue.
Reason #3 - links page is buried deep in the navigation of the website.
Some webmasters bury the link to their links page deep within their site, so that the only way a search engine spider will find the links page is by following 3 or 4 links from the homepage. When this is done, very little (if any) PR flows to the links page. Again, I would not link to a site like this. You wont get much benefit.
Reason #4 - Multiple links pages bury the page your link is found on.
On some websites, there are so many reciprocal partners, that links are often split across 10s (or even 100s) of pages. For a search engine spider to find the page you are on, it would require following link after link on these links pages until it reaches yours. Again, by the time it gets there, very little (if any) PR will have flowed to the page your link is one.
For points #3 & #4, my advice is simple. Start at the homepage, and see how many clicks it takes you to navigate to the page your link is on. If it is more than 2 clicks away, think carefully about exchanging links. You may not get much out of the deal.
Reason #5 - a sneaky one here. Check for a robots.txt file on the site that is requesting the link exchange. If there is one, make sure that there is no command that disallows the spiders from accessing the links page. This is a technique that will prevent the search engines spiders from visiting the links page, so no PR, and no benefit, is passed to your site. This is a definite one to avoid.

If you are one of the many people this Christmas season who have absolutely no idea what to buy for the people in your life that won’t end up returned after Christmas, this is the article for you. You could learn how to get them a gift that they want, or you could simply get them a gift card, thus allowing you to just spend the rest of the day with the person you care about.
Christmas gets more extravagant every year. Everyone says that Christmas will be different next year but it will be the same boring holiday. It’s fun to receive gifts, especially when you’re a kid, but as adults, do we really need to go bonkers in the mall each year?
Unfortunately, the majority of the population are unaware of what most people would like. The theory espoused is apparently that if you buy a lot of things, eventually you will hit on something that pleases the receipient. Do an online search to find the perfect gift for your loved one. You need to get opinions from people who are sure of what they are looking for. In the course of the year, make a few subtle inquiries so when the gift occasion arises you won’t be stumped. This information should help you resist buying them unneeded trinkets and gadgets. If all these ideas do not work then there is nothing wrong with gift cards. You can make this personal in any number of ways. How about adding home made biscuits, or a card with a personal message that means something uniquely to them? Even if you get to spend all your time surrounded by gifts, the best gift of all is spending time with loved ones.
While gift cards may be considered a bit impersonal, it is better than getting that loved one a gift they do not need or like. Gift cards are a terrific last-minute idea if your inquiries didn’t result in any answers. More than often people really don’t know what they desire, or at least won’t admit to it. Don’t worry, you’ll find plenty of ways to keep this group happy. Here is a great site for some Christmas Gifts for everyone.

Networking is the single most effective way to job hunt and to increase business opportunities. Without a circle of high quality professional acquaintances, you will be severely disadvantaged throughout your career. However, building this circle requires planning and you have to continually work at it. How do you get started? Most importantly, how do you make sure you aren’t turning people off or damaging your reputation? Read on to learn the fundamentals of effective networking - what TO do and what NOT to do.
How to Start
- There’s really no single formula. However, I recommend that you start with a specific goal and timeframe. For example, decide to meet 3 new people in your field who work both in your company and in other firms over the next 6 months. Once you “program” that goal into your brain, you’ll be amazed at the number of opportunities that come your way. Sign up for seminars, attend presentations, take a class, or ask a friend to introduce you to someone. Just get going. And don’t worry about imposing - people are generally very nice and like to help each other out.
How to Get People Interested in You
- Who are you interested in networking with? Probably people who are cheerful, hard-working, well put together and well thought of, right? Well, then you need to work on being that kind of person yourself. You have to demonstrate that you are worth building a relationship with.
If you’re meeting someone for the first time, let them do most of the talking. People love to talk about themselves. Ask them about their interests, profession…whatever. First, you’ll learn pretty quickly if this person is someone you want to keep in touch with. Second, if you do ask them for their business card or contact information, they will gladly give it to you because they now look upon you very favorably as being “a good listener”. Make sure you ask for permission to contact them in the future. Don’t assume that you can. Just say something like “I’m glad we met. May I keep in touch with you?” If you’ve used the active listening approach I described, they always say “Yes” or “Of course”.
If someone isn’t interested in networking with you, just back off. Don’t bug them or try to change his or her mind. Be objective about why this is the case and try to determine if there is something about yourself that needs improvement. If they never come around, don’t worry about it. The world is a big place and there are plenty of great people out there.
Start Off Conservatively
- Wait for at least 24-48 hours to pass before getting in touch with someone after you meet them. Otherwise, they might get the impression that you’re needy or over-eager. Don’t ask for huge favors the very first time you communicate with someone, either. Networking is a give-and-take process, not a one-time event. People don’t “owe” you anything just because you were introduced or exchanged business cards.
Mind Your Manners
- What ever happened to “Please” and “Thank you”? People of all ages are violating this basic rule and it’s appalling. Use an appropriate level of formality and respectful tone. Over time you can become more relaxed but never, ever lose basic courtesy. If you’re sending an email, watch your grammar and spell check it before sending. If you’re leaving a voicemail, write it out first and practice saying it a few times. That way, it will be delivered it smoothly and naturally. Your verbal and written communication reflects who you are.
Demonstrate Respect for Process and Position
- Don’t ask people to go around their company’s internal processes or to leap over organizational levels for you. This puts them on the spot. Instead, ask them to explain what their company’s process is and who they recommend that you contact. Always, always ask for permission to use their name before doing so. This approach shows that you are a responsible and trustworthy person. And, you will ultimately get in touch with the right individual(s) through a series of personal internal referrals Trust me - this works.
Set Up a Schedule
- A preset schedule will ensure that you keep in regular contact with your networking circle. 2-3 times a year is a good guideline, unless you are working with someone on a specific project or request. Make it a convenient time for them - breakfast, coffee, lunch, or after work. Keep it to 30 minutes. If the other person wants to make it longer, let them suggest it, not you.
Keep the Conversations Productive
- Be completely professional and upbeat in your networking activities. Networking is not a vehicle for you to whine, complain, or badmouth. It’s an opportunity for you to learn from others and to help them out as well. Anybody who is a quality individual for you to know will not be interested in listening to garbage. In networking circles, word travels fast about which people to avoid. Don’t get on that list.
Be a Giver, Not a Taker
- Keep track of how many times you ask for favors. You should be giving and taking in equal measure. End each conversation with “Thanks for your time. Please tell me how I can help you.” Even if the other person says “Oh, don’t worry about it.” or “I don’t really need anything right now.” - they will always remember you as being a very unselfish and thoughtful person. I cannot stress enough how much networking is about helping others. Again, word travels fast about which people just take, take, take and never do anything for anyone else. Don’t get on that list, either.
Be on Your Best Behavior at all Times
- Not everyone is an outgoing extrovert. And we all have bad days. But the world is a small place and people have long memories. You never know who you will run into and whose assistance you will need, even if it’s years and years from now. You can never go wrong by being kind and respectful to everyone all the time.
You Must Sow Before You Reap
- Start networking NOW. Don’t wait until you need something. There is nothing more annoying than getting a phone call from someone you just met or someone who hasn’t been in touch for years (or worse yet, didn’t return your calls when you contacted them) asking for a big favor.
If you truly don’t need anyone or anything right now, then reach out to others and help them. And be sincere about it. Develop the reputation for being someone who helps others. Not only is it the right thing to do, but by doing so, you will build up a “bank” of goodwill that you can easily tap into when you really need it. Believe me, that day will come and when it does, you’ll be amazed at the outpouring of assistance you’ll get.
Protect Your Good Name and Reputation
- Don’t feel obligated to let just anyone into your personal network. Be especially careful if you have any doubts about how a person’s behavior will reflect upon you, even if you’ve known this person since childhood or if she is your second cousin. It can take someone less than 5 minutes to ruin the good reputation you’ve spent years and years building.
Don’t blow the person off. Return the phone call and listen to the request with respect. Then simply say “I wish I could help you out. Unfortunately, I’m not in a position right now to be of assistance. If things change, I’ll certainly get in touch with you.” Leave it at that.

Top 4 Reasons Why You Should Write Articles by Todd Taylor My
gift in life is not article writing, but I realize it as a
necessity for me when it comes to my real gift; spending money.
Communication is a necessary tool for all of our relationships.
Writing just happens to be one way of communication and when
learned to be used properly there are many great rewards to be
had. 1. You establish yourself as an industry expert. Let’s face
it, the power of the written word is strong. With several
articles under your pen, you begin to establish yourself as an
expert in your field. You, as the writer, get to choose the
direction of your industry and align the masses thinking with
your own. Your peers, prospects and customers will look to you
for your leadership and expertise. With that your value goes up
and half of your selling job is done. 2. Article writing builds
web site traffic. With the search algorithms as they are today,
it is imperative that your website is content driven. Writing
articles or blog entries on a regular basis keep your website
fresh with content and satisfy those Google Spiders! Imagine not
only being an industry expert, but your website is the first
found on the internet search engines all the while, leveraging
your new found industry expert status. 3. Writing articles can
be fun. Your articles are not only good for your business, but
they are also great for your brain. As I write this article my
mind is being worked and my creative thought patterns are
humming to life. With your new found creative outlet you will
find yourself mentally sharp in more situations, relaxed during
tough times and much more focused on the positive situations of
your life 4. Your influence is leveraged. Imagine that you write
a passion filled article about a topic you believe strongly
about and thousands of people read it each week. Just suppose
your impassioned article changes one of those reader’s lives and
you make a positive difference for them in their life. Now not
only are you an industry expert, but you are a life changer.
Give your passions credit; they can change much about our world
only if you share them by writing about them. Those four
benefits are only four out of probably a million. I picked those
because they touch upon personal, professional and
organizational benefits that leaders should be aware of and
learn that the practice of article writing will enhance your
life in many different areas. If you need a little help in
writing articles, try www.drivetraffictomywebsite.com. They have
a great tools for helping a novice such as myself.

How do you know whether your business is on-track? In todays marketplace, dont be taken in by evident versus actual business success. Here are a few counter-intuitive indicators to measure your business success.
1. Failure to win established marketing accolades. If you have been awarded any traditional recognition, it means that you have brought down your marketing efforts to the standard of status quo. The measure of high achievement inevitably has nada to do with bottom line market share and revenue output, and not in what I term, cutesie or funny advertising. The greatest marketing is always the marketing that most webmasters, family and other experts will tell you NOT to do. It is also the variety of marketing that gets your competitors angry.
Speed To Market Principle: Angry competitors, loved ones who tell you dont do it!, and going against the grain of so-called technical advice, these are the 3 indications that you should proceed with your marketing. Beware of concord with any of these people!
2. Failure to use electronic mail with the right frequency to encourage people to unsubscribe. Only email to get rid of your dead wood. Or in other words, unsubscribes are a useful method of analyzing the potency of your business success. I tell my clients that if they are not having unsubscribes they are not staying in front of their ideal clients frequently enough. Remember, most of the people on your subscriber’s list are freeloaders. They are simply there to get free information or to learn more about you. People who unsubscribe from your newsletter list means that your subject matter is actually getting through to those who actually need what you offer.
Speed To Market Principle: Eradicate the decimal point i.e. Move the free line-give away your best knowledge in exchange for contact information to show the power of your system, but move the decimal place to the right to put across the value of your expertise.
3. Failure to sell a $10,000 coaching program before one sells a $17 ebook. Most people dabble on the Internet to sell a few dollar eBook or some other downloadable program but they do not understand that the standard skillsets of selling are the same. Selling a low priced program is usually indicative of seeking imperfect clients who realize you get what you pay for. Positioning your marketing to make the high dollar sale also normally means that there is less competition at this level and it makes selling your programs simpler than competing with a sea of sameness where millions are all in competition for the duplicate few dollar sale.
Speed To Market Principle: The first company that develops a sales team wins in the marketplace!

Selecting the right baby pram for your baby is a lot more important than many people think, because it can affect both you and your baby in ways you might not have thought of. You have to take into account a whole lot of factors when selecting baby prams, things like height, width, weight, shape, the seat, if it folds up or not, and then there’s the cost, as some prams can be quite expensive, especially if they’re “designer” prams. Basically, the height, width and shape will dictate whether or not you can fit through doorways and things like that, which is particularly important if you’re taking the baby out shopping with you, as it can be mildly frustrating when you can’t fit through a doorway or move freely in a crowded or narrow area. It’ll also affect your posture when pushing the pram, which in turn will affect your back, so you’ll have to take into account how easy a pram is to push, and how high it is. However, these things can usually have their height changed, with adjustable handles or something similar, so most problems can be sorted out fairly easily. The seat and how comfortable it is will affect your child’s back/growth just as the aforementioned size of the pram can affect the pusher. It’s important to make sure the seat will be comfortable for the baby, and not scratchy, itchy or otherwise harmful to them. It’s also a good idea to make sure that the baby isn’t allergic to any material the pram is made from, as they’re going to probably be spending a large quantity of time in the pram itself, so it’d be nicer for everyone involved if the baby wasn’t allergic to anything in the pram.

Past life regression can often unearth the reasons why we have problems with friends in our present life or why we are concerned of certain situations. You have work colleagues around you in your current lifetime that you would have remarkably known before, now lets just imagine being capable to unearth what happened and what your relationship was to them at that time and remove blocks that plague you in your current lifetime and even find out talents and bring them into your current lifetime. Past lifetime regression is breathtaking.
When you are having a past life regression, also known as PLR, session you will go back to the lifetime you would most need to see about in your present lifetime. This is superb and may explain an enormous deal about your present lifetime and help you to move forward with your life with a greater understanding of yourself, your life and the girlfriends around you. Heal your current problems with Past Life Regression.
You might well also ascertain why you are the individual that you are, now that is super. If you adore nature perhaps you were once working as a farmer, if you like to travel maybe you were a gypsy. Instead of forgetting our strengths we should acknowledge them.
Every single experience is tremendous and unique. Others have visited places they had lived in before and knew where to go.

When shopping online for Link Management Software that can help create and automate your links directory, some important features that you should look for are as follows:
The software should,
- Create the links page based on your own template.
- Allow addition or removal of links at the click of a button and have the links page rebuilt.
- Allow webmasters to submit their site.
- Notify you when a webmaster has submitted their site and give you the option of accepting or rejecting their submission. .
- Automatically check whether link partners linked back to you.
- Help to automate the process of finding new partners.
- Be easy to install.
The key to success for a website or online business is good search engine ranking. All of the major search engines use link popularity to determine how well a site will rank so the more high quality, relevant links that lead to your site, the higher it will rank.
There are a number of link management software scripts on the market but the one that I really enjoy using is
LinkMachine. This is a relatively new link exchange management software that does not require an mySQL database and is very extremely to install. This software makes it very easy to find and contact quality link partners, generate custom link pages that match your site, and keep track of reciprocal links. LinkMachine automatically updates your link pages the instant they’re changed - no uploading required. Link exchanges increase a site’s targeted traffic, search engine ranking, and sales.
LinkMachine finds hundreds of popular, relevant sites to potentially exchange links with. Invite the webmasters of these sites to exchange links, using LinkMachine’s fast e-mail templates. Generate custom link pages that perfectly match the look of your site. And keep track of each reciprocal link to your site.
LinkMachine is a Php application that runs on your web server. So it can automatically update your link pages the moment a change is made - no need to upload files each time a new link is added.
