For years, feng shui has been renowned for its career-enhancing attributes. Many people believe that just stationing a tabletop fountain on your desk will get you a better pay-raise. Feng shui is not specific to adding a tabletop fountain in your business center.
Use these three points to your agency or business to amend your business prosperity.
- Try to set up your business office furniture so that you are presenting towards the office entrance.
- If you have a household office, position your work table in such a manner that you present towards the door and not towards the dead-end corner.
- It is critical to fend off presenting your spine towards your co-worker. For this reason, try to format your work-spaces so that the employees and colleagues and the managers are presented towards each other. This precept is believed to improve your intra-office and inter-office rapport. If you determine to add a decorative piece to your office, nothing functions as effectively as a tabletop fountain.
- Nothing harms your office to a greater extent than accepting a residual amount of geopathic stress. You may employ a master dowser to verify if your office is being negatively affected by geopathic stress.
Coalition and flow are the 2 fundamental panoramas of feng shui arrangement One of the best sites to add a tabletop fountain is in an NJ Accountant organization.

Have you ever noticed that when human beings are faced with adverse conditions such as the conditions, which confronted us during the 2005 Atlantic tropical hurricane season that somehow we all become closer together and bonded in that experience? Have you ever noticed that heroes emerge during the most trying times and in those times of need?
Have you ever observed the perseverance that comes from human intent and human will to challenge the forces of Mother Nature and not give up? Have you ever experienced the dedication of the volunteers and the first responders after a large category storm or hurricane as they come to the aid of their fellow American? If you have then perhaps you realize that hurricanes reaffirm that Americans are strong and the will to survive is even stronger.
We share a common bond and in these trying times we often see the best part of what it is to be human and this gives us hope for the future and inspiration that nothing can come between us and we will adapt and press lawn and never give up. Hurricanes are destructive and devastating but they also bring out images and strengths of the common man and this provides us inspirational thinking, which can last much longer than any Atlantic tropical hurricane season. Please consider this in 2006.

You’ll have to excuse me for my eccentric views on the world, people, sports, food.
Life. Etcetera (Is it just me or is it just funny that when we drive our cars we are
controlled by traffic signals and signs on the road? I’m the type of guy who doesn’t
like to be under anybody’s control, much less under the command of an inanimate
object. And then we play games and try to manipulate them by going a different
speed than normal or taking an alternate route to avoid them altogether. See? We’re
under their control. And it’s funny).
United State of America - When It’s Convenient
Where is the unity this country had for three weeks after September 11, 2001? Do
you remember? We all flew our little American flags and sang patriotic songs
together. I saw signs that said “WE SHALL NOT FORGET - 9/11/01.” Everyone in our
town was our neighbor and no one dared mention anything concerning race
relations during that time. We were Americans. We had been violated and there was
no way we were going to come against each other once we saw there was a greater
enemy at hand. Again, maybe it’s just me - but has anything really changed? Seems
like we’ve forgotten.
Maybe it’s just me.
I like to come together with any given set of people on certain occasions and forget
about who I am for a little while. Is there any greater fun than talking with someone
who accepts you for you? No pressure to project any great image which, if I admit it,
is only great to myself anyway. Walls come down and we talk and laugh together
and tell stories and stupid jokes for hours before we realize we need to recompose
and settle back into ourselves. But then I can hardly wait to do it again. The
questions is, why wait? Can’t we all let our walls down everyday and quit acting like
we have something to protect? It’s a wonderful world we’ve been given and we all
have something extraordinary inside us to give back.
So, we’re all Americans. We live here, work here, play here, eat here. But not
necessarily together. We have our different social levels and some aren’t allowed
into our circle for various reasons. One has a defective leg or half an arm. Another
one is just too happy all the time. That one just doesn’t look right. We can’t hang
with that. Not by choice. We only find out in the wake of extreme events if who we
think we are is real. Whether you’re rich, poor, beautiful, honest, dishonest —
doesn’t matter. Katrina played no favorites. She came through with no respect
whatsoever to social class or communal goodness. If you were anywhere near her,
you and your stuff was submerged and/or destroyed beyond repair. Things change.
Sometimes too quickly. Sometimes our walls are torn down for us.
The Missing Ingredient
I’m not ashamed to say it - usually, I’m the last one to see how imperfect I am. I like
to think that I have no faults and that everyone should love me just because I’m me.
You know, I’m the only one who is me. I’m special, right? Of course I am.
I had something happen to me some time ago and it brings tears to my eyes when I
think of it. He caught me as I was waiting for a friend outside a sandwich shop. I
didn’t think much about it since other people were also passing by, but as he came
closer, I realized I was his target. I figured he was hungry and was about to ask me
for a taste of my fresh cuisine. I was wearing jeans with a maize and blue college
football jersey, emblazoned with the number 18. He was a young guy, crippled and
deformed with a bag strapped to his back. With a certain air of determination, he
walked up to me the best he could, smiling, with no regard to whether or not I
wanted to talk to him. I don’t know exactly what made him think he could just step
to me like that. But without a hint of disrespect, he said, “You’re too tall and skinny
to be a running back so you must be a wide receiver.” I just looked at him for a
second or two before I got caught up, then began laughing hysterically. “Oh, the
jersey!!! Kid, I don’t play football. This is just a jersey I wear because I like the
colors!”
Unfazed, he continued on with the conversation as though he’d been through
similar situations before. “Will you throw this football with me?” he asked.
I looked at him again and I noticed that he had no hands. I examined further and
saw he only had half a foot. I paused for a moment and moved on as if I hadn’t seen
his physical defects - and I was fooling myself if I thought he hadn’t seen that I saw
them. Even so, I said sheepishly, “I guess you have a football in your bag?”
“Yes, ” he answered. “I love football but I can’t find anyone who will play with me.”
Just about this time, my friend was arriving at the scene. “Listen, young fella,” I
replied. “I don’t have much time right now. I need to eat and he’s gotta go to work.”
Afraid that the boy was hip to the fact that I wanted nothing to do with him, I
attempted to show support through what I considered to be encouragement. “Hey,
you’ll find somebody to toss that ball around with.”
To make a long story short, I never saw the kid again. But instead of him looking for
me, I’m looking for him this time. I’m looking for him because he has what I’m
missing. I’m the broken one. I’m the one who has the imperfections. He had no
hands but he knew his arms would work for him. He couldn’t run but that didn’t
stop him from trying to walk. He had pain in his heart but a smile on his face. He
was continually rejected but remained determined to do what he loved.
He was just a boy but he taught me a lesson I will always remember. Before I met
him I loved my clothes, my car, my music, my space, my time…all the gifts I gave
myself. But he taught me to love myself - truly love myself in spite of all my
weaknesses, disabilities and defects. I found, too, that the only difference between
us is that our infirmities are in opposite places - his on the outside, mine on the
inside. All that means is that I can hide for a little longer but eventually it all comes
to light.

I believe we all have been given something to give to someone else. Whether
welcome or not, what we do and say affects others outside our own space. We need
to be sure that we do our best to make the effects positive.
My goal is to leave behind a legacy my family and friends will be able to be proud of
for many generations. I want them to hear the music I wrote, wear the clothes I
designed, enjoy the impact of my technological innovations and feel my love in all of
it. Life is a game and the object is to leave as large a piece of you here as possible.

What Are Out of Sync Signs?
The twelve astrology signs are composed of the four elements of
fire (3), earth (3), air (3) and water (3). If you have planets
in signs that are not compatible, they are out of sync, and can
cause some serious problems in your relationships.
For example, if you are a woman with your Sun in Cancer (water)
and your Mars is in Aquarius (air), your heart (Sun) is out of
sync with your passion (Mars). This means that you love a man
who is emotional (water) and has a love of the home and family
(Cancer). But you are physcially attracted to an Aquarian man
(air) who is detached emotionally and totally unpredictable. He
has no interest in the home and family. In this case, you may
become confused about your relationships because you may be
going after men who cannot fulfill your Cancer need for a home
and family life. If you understand this about yourself, your
motivations, desires, and attitudes will make more sense to you.
At this point, you may be wondering “What can I do about these
conflicting needs? How can I find a man who is compatible with
me”? The obvious answer is to find someone who has the same kind
of “attitudes” (signs) as you. You would need to consult an
astrologer to help you determine the real attitudes of a man you
are attracted to and avoid being deceived by your attractions.
If you are a man and have your Venus in Gemioni (air) and your
Moon is in Scorpio (water), your heart loves a woman who is
sensual, loyal and intense. But your Venus in Gemini leads you
to go after a woman who is cute, clever and very stimulating
mentally. But if you expect deep, emotional responses from her
(which your Moon requires), she will simply fly away. She will
not be around for you. Actually, what you want is a woman who is
bright and intellectual, but very intense, loyal and sensual a
combination of both types of women. You, too, would would need
to consult an astrologer to help you determine the real
attitudes of a woman you are attracted to and avoid being
deceived by your own attractions to her.
I have merely scratched the surface of the complexities of the
signs and their infinite combinations. But with just this little
bit of insight you can find out if you have any signs out of
sync and what they mean for you. A skilled astrologer can help
you make these determinations, or you can learn ow to this
yourself.

“You are the salt…of the world” (Matthew 5:13).
Salt is both a seasoning and a preservative. We sprinkle spiritual salt on our anger to turn it into meekness; on our bitterness to change it into forgiveness; on our doubts to change them into faith; on our inclination to gossip so we may change this malignant habit into acceptance of others; on our restlessness so we may become content with life. The seasoning and preservative is found in God’s Word, for it is here and here only that we find the code of conduct for our lives.
Jesus told His disciples and us in His Sermon on the Mount that His people are savors of others. Salt, to be effective, works quietly and unobtrusively. We go out into the world and act and speak with grace seasoned with the salt of compassion and encouragement. A wise word is spoken in reason as well as in season. Jesus also lamented salt-less salt: “It is no longer good for anything…” (Matthew 5:13). How it must grieve Him when we don’t live up to the potential, the nobility, He has given us. “How the gold has lost its luster, the fine gold become dull!” (Lamentations 4:1).
Therold gives an excellent description of one who has lost the flavor of Christianity: “The bane of the Church of God, the dishonor of Christ, the laughingstock of the world, is in that far too numerous body of half alive Christians who choose their own cross, and shape their own standard, and regulate their own sacrifices, and measure their own devotions; whose sacrifices do not deprive them of a single comfort from one year’s end to another, and whose devotions never make their dull hearts burn with the love of Christ.”

This year I thought I’d try something new with my New Years Resolutions. I am doing this basically because they have never really been successful for me before. Since my track record is pretty much worthless, I thought I’d try a new path, give them some new sparkle.
Each year I say things like: “I am going to exercise more.” “I am going to eat healthier.” “I am going to lose 5 pounds.” Well, if those had been working I’d keep setting them and completing them, but they are not.
So, this year instead of focusing on what I am not doing well enough, I have decided to focus on my strengths and use them more. That sounds simple enough and definitely more positive. Don’t you agree?
To begin, I will tell you my top 5 Signature Strengths. Do you want to know yours? You should! It will make you feel good! It will help you focus in a new way. Give yourself some “sparkle” for the year to come. Go to:
www.authentichappiness.org . On the top left hand corner it says VIA (this stands for Values in Action)
Signature Strengths Questionnaire. Log in and go ahead and follow the directions. In about 25 minutes, you’ll know your Signature Strengths too.
So, these are mine:
*Kindness and generosity
*Capacity to love and be loved
*Curiosity and interest in the world
*Fairness, equity and justice
*Gratitude
So, now I can take each of these strengths and make them bigger, make them more useful, make then shine. Have them really become a part of my everyday life.
These will now be my New Year’s Resolutions for this year.
Kindness and generosity: I commit to reaching out more to those in need, not just in my small world, but in the larger world. I will pay more attention and not get caught up in my own activities.
Capacity to love and be loved: I commit to being more available to those I care about.
I will not put my work in front of those who are important to me.
Curiosity and interest in the world: I commit to expanding my knowledge in my work world as well as my personal life, pursuing activities I enjoy and want to learn more about. I will put extra effort into the personal side of my life since that part seems to not get the attention it should, such as taking classes just for fun and not for career reasons.
Fairness, equity and justice: I commit to treating all people fairly; even those I do not know well or are not within my circle of friends, family or my small world. I will give people the benefit of the doubt, without judging.
Gratitude: I commit to truly appreciating all that I have. I will enjoy my good life and understand that my life is a gift and I must cherish it and keep it in my awareness at all times.
So, my mid-life friends, what are your New Year’s Resolutions? Are you ready to put a new spin on them and not do the same old thing you do every year? Stretch yourself, try something new…………and while your at it; I’d love to hear what they are!!
This is your year to “sparkle” so start yourself off on a positive path!

Okay, before you think that I’m just another “alien freak”, let me say that I don’t mean that little green men from the red planet are on the warpath. The sort of “attack” that I’m referring to has to do with the very noticeable effects in your life whenever the planet Mars forms an “aspect” to one of the factors in your birth chart.
Have you ever had one of those days where you seemed
restless, perhaps even nervous, when you were impatient with others, when you couldn’t sleep at night… and there didn’t seem to be any obvious reason for your agitated state? Well, then you may well have been experiencing what is known to astrologers as a “Mars transit”.
As you may already know, a birth chart is a map of the exact (to the degree and minute of arc) planetary positions on the date (and at the time and place) of your birth. One of the main techniques that we astrologers use to make predictions about the tendencies of a person’s future is that of the so-called “transits”. A transit occurs when a planet on a specific day/time (for example, right now) is passing over a degree of the zodiac that is in a specific angle to one of the important factors in your birth chart. Let’s get more concrete. Suppose you were born on November 8 1955, at 9:48 am EST (as I was). The Sun in your birth chart is (as seen from the earth) in 15 degrees, 25 minutes of the sign Scorpio. Now, on Nov 6, 2005, the planet Mars is in 15 degrees Taurus: exactly 180 degrees from “your” Sun. An 180 angle is known as an “opposition”, and is but one of the various aspects used in astrological work.
In order to interpret such an aspect, several things must be considered:
- The planet making the aspect (in this case, Mars)
- The planet (or other factor) in the birth chart receiving
the aspect (the Sun, in our example)
- The Nature of the aspect (in this case, of the opposition).
- Other considerations, such as the signs and houses these
planets occupy, other aspects that are present among the
factors in the birth chart, etc.
In our example, we’ll simplify. An opposition is regarded as an aspect of tension, and often represents a challenge we have to face. As I write these lines, the planet Mars is in opposition to my Sun, and has been for several days - and I sure have noticed it! I’ve been busier than usual, teaching my students, working on different Internet projects, and have generally not had much time to just sit back and relax. This is often the case when Mars is in aspect to your Sun.
Also typical of Mars is, on occasion, accidents, or
experiencing pain of some sort. Well, a few days ago, one of my back teeth began to hurt. My dentist had warned me it was going to give me trouble some day (it already has several fillings in it), and I’m afraid that day has arrived. A toothache is a painful thing to have, as I’m sure many of you know, and in just a half hour, I’ll be leaving for the dentist’s to see whether the tooth can be saved, or must be extracted. In any case, the inevitable unpleasantness/pain associated with undergoing dental work is also typical of a Mars transit.
Nervousness, impatience and impulsiveness often occur under a Mars transit, so if you’re experiencing such a time, I suggest you try to relax, take your time, drive more slowly than usual… for when under the influence of Mars, we tend to get ahead of ourselves, and this can, depending on the circumstances, lead to an increased risk of accidents.
How can you know when a Mars transit will be affecting you? Well, just about any good astrology program allows you to calculate transits. Our own “Omnicycles” program lets you do both your birth chart and transits (in graph form) for the weeks/months when Mars will be showing its influence most strongly in your future. There are also some astrology sites that let you calculate the positions of the planets for different time periods: use seach terms such as “astrology”, “on-line ephemeris” (put this one in quotes), and “aspect” in Google to find sites that offer such a service.
Despite the occasional upsets that Mars transits can bring you, I should also mention the positive side. During these times, you will have more energy, and will no doubt be able to get a lot more done in your work, studies, etc. Take advantage of this trend: if you feel so “worked up” that you don’t know what to do with all that excess energy, maybe it would be a good time to paint the porch, indulge in your favorite sport, or work it off in some other way. Just resist the temptation to do too much, or to tax your strength to the limit: be active, but don’t take any unnecessary risks.
Since Mars can, in its worst manifestation, represent
violence, we can be pretty sure of one thing - If those little green men from that neighbouring red planet ever DO decide to attack and wipe us all out, it will probably happen when Mars is in a rather bad aspect to the Earth!
David E. Bolton, born in Baltimore, MD, began his astrological studies in 1977, in Kassel, Germany. He has been teaching the subject for over 20 years, and has been especially active in the area of research. His primary interest lies in the refinement of predictive techniques, as well as the redefining of traditional systems of interpretation. Working with the Spanish programmer, Juanma Puertas, Mr. Bolton developed the “Omnicycles” software program, that allows users to view the “ups and downs” of their lives in many different areas: love, finances, work, social life, and more. A free working demo is available at his website, http://www.omnicycles.com, so that you can test the program’s effectiveness in your own life. Mr. Bolton is also a professional harpsichordist and language teacher. He now lives in Granada, Spain.

Last week we started a five part series on The Seasons of Life.
At that time I stated that I believe there are overriding principles that we should follow and be led by. That life is about constant, predictable patterns of change. And that as we approach the future; for all of us, the only constant factor will be our feelings and attitudes toward life.
Secondly, we as human beings have the power of attitude and that attitude determines choice, and choice determines results. All that we are and all that we can become has indeed been left unto us to decide and interpret through our attitude and choices.
This week we will begin our discussion of the four seasons. I’ll start by making two comments. First, life and business are like the changing seasons. That’s one of the best ways to illustrate life: it’s like the seasons that change. Second, you cannot change the seasons, but you can change yourself.
Now with those two key phrases in mind, let’s look at what I consider to be the first major lesson in life to learn, and that is how to handle the winters. They come regularly, right after autumn. Some are long, some are short, some are difficult, some are easy, but they always come right after autumn. That is never going to change.
There are all kinds of winters - the “winter” when you can’t figure it out, the “winter” when everything seems to go haywire. There are economic winters, social winters and personal winters.
Wintertime can bring disappointment, and disappointment is common to all of us.
So you must learn how to handle the winters. You must learn how to handle difficulty; it always comes after opportunity. You must learn to handle recessions; they come right after expansions. That isn’t going to change.
The big question is what do you do about winters? You can’t get rid of January simply by tearing it off the calendar. But here is what you can do: you can get stronger; you can get wiser; and you can get better. Remember that trio of words: stronger, wiser, better. The winters won’t change, but you can.
Before I understood this, I used to wish it were summer when it was winter. When things were difficult, I used to wish they were easy. I didn’t know any better. Then Mr. Shoaff gave me the answer from a part of his very unique philosophy when he said, “Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for fewer problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge, wish for more wisdom.”
(Next week we will talk about the second major lesson in life: learning how to take advantage of the spring. Spring is opportunity. Fortunately, spring always follows winter.)

The point is to achieve a sense of being centered and letting go of every day
concerns.
How do I DO that?
This can be done in many ways: reciting words or mantras, controlling breathing
patterns or engaging in physically active meditations such as yoga or trance dance.
Don’t have time for any of that?
Take what you do have time for and what WORKS for you. Meditating is simply
taking a moment to BE. A big mistake that a lot of people make is making
meditation a big deal and then not doing anything at all.
Let’s break it down:
Reciting words or mantras: feeling stressed, anxious, upset? Take note of that and
then use a phrase that works for you. One of my favorites, “You will be fine.” Take a
moment to listen to the thought that works for you and then move onto your task. It
is the moment that has the power more than the actual phrase.
Controlling breathing patterns: just breathe. Ever notice when someone says the
word “breathe,” you do? Try it. That right there is controlling your pattern. Take a
deep breath in and slowly let it out. You just meditated.
Physically active meditations: modalities like yoga and trance dance are wonderful if
they work for you, but want to know what is really meditative for me? Swimming.
Love it. I get more from doing laps in my little NYC gym pool than any yoga class
could give me right now. There was a time when I did yoga twice a week, but right
now the thought of getting to a class stresses me out. It is always about finding
what works for you. Just find it.
Modern science has shown that relaxation of the mind has a healing effect on the
body, helping people to reduce stress and, as a result, prevent disease - even
something as simple as a cold.
How is this possible?
In a meditative state, metabolic processes, including respiration and blood flow,
slow down. Key wordsSLOW DOWN.
That’s it.
Meditation does not need to take an enormous amount of time. It only takes
conscious effort. You need only take five minutes to slow down, focus on the center
of your body and let the rest of the moment happen.
If you would like a more focused approach, try this:
Meditation Exercise
1. Sit in a comfortable position that allows you to relax. Dim the lights and light a
candle. Concentrate on the flame.
2. Relax and breathe softly and slowly through your nose (breathing through the
nose keeps energy and warmth contained within the body). Concentrate on how
your abdomen rises and falls with your breath. If you are breathing through your
chest try to drop your breath into the belly. Placing a hand on your stomach may
help with this.
3. Allow your thoughts to wander, calmly. Welcome every new thought, but do not
dwell on it. Keep your eyes focused on the candle and let everyday thoughts drop
away. Do this for as short or as long as you desire
Where do the lemons come in?
Just as Meditation can help to put health back on track so can one special fruit: the
lemon.
Did you know that the lemon actually functions as a buffer in the body and can
reduce hyperactivity in the stomach? How about that the lemon stimulates the
production of enzymes and digestive juices in the mucous membrane of the
stomach, enhancing the absorption of iron and calcium of other foods? What about
the fact that it helps to cleanse the body by promoting perspiration?
All of this will give you an increase in centered-focus and have you feeling more
relaxed.
Here are some ways to use this powerful fruit:
1. To alleviate soar throat and hoarseness squeeze one lemon and dilute the juice
with one cup of hot water. Gargle three times a day with the diluted juice.
2. Relieve joint and nerve pain by grating the skin from 1 lemon, being careful to
get only the yellow layer, not the white underneath. Rub the grated peel onto the
soar parts of the body and then wrap with a cloth or bandage. Keep in place for
about 1 hour.
3. To reduce fever, coughs and asthma pour one cup of boiling water over 3 tsp. of
dried lemon leaves and allow steeping for 10 minutes. Sweeten with honey. Drink
two to three cups a day.
